This stag’s head pillow cover knits up simply and quickly. Stockinette with a ribbed edge makes up the back, while the front is knit with two colours in mostly stockinette and a few texture stitches to create movement (a few cables and some purling to contrast with the knit front).
Measurements: To fit a 16" x 16" pillow.
Gauge: 4" = 17 sts x 23 rows.
Materials: I used one skein of Paton's Classic Wool in Jade Heather (192 m / 100 g), as well as a discontinued evergreen-colored Bernat yarn (Soft N Cozy, 338 m / 170 g) that I inherited (still worsted weight, but perhaps a touch heavier than the Paton's wool). If you're going to use a 100 g ball of worsted weight yarn, you'll need two skeins for the background color.
Other Materials Required: Buttons.
Hook/Needle Size: 4 mm needles (or size required to obtain gauge).
